This pie is absolutely wonderful! We grew up near an Amish community, so makes sense that we made this pie, as the Amish are famous for this delicious treat.
1 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Crisco shortening
Mix like pie dough with fork or hands (take out 3/4 cup for later use).
1 cup dark Karo
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
Mix liquid and crumbs and pour into unbaked pie crust. Sprinkle (3/4 cup) crumbs on top. Bake 400 degrees for 10 minutes, then 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
