Hi, my name is Lori and I really enjoy sharing my ideas, recipes, crafts, etc. with others, so thought a blog would be a great way for me to do that. I have been a crafter from a very early age. The members of my family have always been crafty, so it was natural for me to follow in those footsteps. I remember making handmade felt Christmas ornaments in 7th grade when school was closed due to a teacher strike. I hand stitched the detailed ornaments and also made Christmas stockings for everyone in my family. I still use the ornaments to this day, as they are still beautiful and certainly bring back fond memories. I loved the art of Calligraphy and self-taught myself the art form when I was in high school, using a book. I continued my love of crafting with cake decorating, as it was a great way to save money by making my children’s birthday cakes. I was also interested in Scherenschnitte (German paper cutting). I found the intricate designs mesmerizing and beautiful. I have taught classes in Calligraphy, Scherenschnitte, candy making and cake decorating. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to show someone else how to create something.
I had struggled with a name for my blog and after the recent loss of my Mom (January 17, 2015), I decided that I owe a lot of my characteristics to her and wanted to showcase who I really am, Loretta’s daughter. She was a kind, loving and generous person. I hope to be like her and honor her by sharing some of her life in this blog, along with her recipes and good ideas. Here is a picture of her when she was very young.
This blog is not a way to showcase my talents, but to share and encourage others to craft, create and have fun.
